Proton Therapy Equipment Installation

We were hired to install Hitachi America Proton Beam Therapy Equipment into this newly erected facility in Washington D.C. We provided the rigging, equipment installation and alignment services. The scope of work also included the installation of mechanical piping and electrical installations. Equipment was installed included three 360-degree gantries each weighing approximately 262,000 pounds, one fixed beam room, accelerator room and beam corridor and electrical control rooms and electrical power supply rooms with a total of 373,000 feet of cable. The team mobilized one month prior to starting major equipment installation, providing the opportunity for collaborative planning between our rigging and install team, Hitachi and the building contractor. It also allowed us to proactively start preparation work activities and layout prior to equipment deliveries. Rigging plans were developed for each piece of equipment installed in each gantry room requiring a high level of collaboration with Hitachi America team, the install team and the engineering team. Lean scheduling techniques were utilized including a pull schedule to allow for just in time deliveries of the Hitachi equipment from the Baltimore Port.
