Construction of two proton vaults with 360 degree full rotational gantry and a fixed beam treatment room, utilizing proton equipment by Ion Beam Applications (IBA), additional spaces included CT and MRI. All associated and required PTEV spaces as well i.e. power supply room, cyclotron vault, water supply, spare parts, maintenance etc. The project was the first fully modeled in Revit by design assist MEPF subcontractors with live reviews by BR+A, the MEP consultant for the project. Other firsts developed by Linbeck were to isolate the concrete structure from the clinical structure to mitigate differential settlement and maximize the critical path, metal collars for conduit racks to prevent rolling of conduit during pours, grounding clips for the collars, side entry of the cyclotron providing for an immediate temporary closure of the building upon delivery of the cyclotron and aggressive prefabrication of the beam line conduit reduced the critical path from 8 weeks to 4 weeks for this task. Technology deployed included laser scanning, BIM Anywhere and BIM Trace.
